Key Phrases — Redemittel

Ready-made sentences for asking politely, expressing uncertainty, giving directions, and sharing an opinion.

📚 Hindi में समझें: ये patterns सीधे इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं — direct सवाल को indirect और विनम्र बना देते हैं।

Informationen erfragen · विनम्रता से पूछना

Können Sie mir sagen, ob wir den Zug um 16:24 Uhr erreichen?
Can you tell me whether we’ll catch the 16:24 train?

Grammar — Grammatik

Kurz und klar: the two grammar points of Kapitel 6.

Grammar 1

Indirekte Fragesätze · अप्रत्यक्ष प्रश्न (indirect questions)

Turning a direct question into an indirect one is more polite. The conjugated verb moves to the end of the clause.

TypDirekte FrageIndirekte Frage
W-Frage„Warum steht der Zug?”Der Mann fragt, warum der Zug steht.
W-Frage„Wann komme ich in Berlin an?”Die Frau will wissen, wann sie in Berlin ankommt.
Ja/Nein-Frage„Ist das Navi einfach?”Marius fragt, ob das Navi einfach ist.
Ja/Nein-Frage„Kommst du zum Essen?”Marius fragt Tom, ob er zum Essen kommt.

Use the question word itself (wann, warum, wo…) as the connector for W-questions; use ob (“whether/if”) when the direct question has no question word.

Ich weiß noch nicht, ob ich Zeit habe. Und wisst ihr, wann ihr schlafen wollt?
I don’t know yet whether I’ll have time. And do you know when you want to sleep?
मुझे अभी नहीं पता कि मेरे पास समय होगा या नहीं। और क्या तुम्हें पता है कि तुम कब सोना चाहते हो?
Grammar 2

Lokale Präpositionen · स्थान बताने वाले prepositions

Directional prepositions for describing a route. Some always take the dative, others always take the accusative.

Go right along the river and then around the church up to the children’s playground.
दाईं ओर नदी के किनारे-किनारे जाओ, फिर चर्च के चारों ओर घूमकर बच्चों के खेल के मैदान तक।

Verkehr & Wegbeschreibung · ट्रैफ़िक और रास्ता

The two special topics of Kapitel 6: comparing means of transport, and preparing for a long bike trip.

📚 Hindi में समझें: हर परिवहन के साधन के अपने फ़ायदे-नुक़सान होते हैं — बिल्कुल किताब के “Vor- und Nachteile” वाले exercise जैसे।

Verkehrsmittel: Vor- und Nachteile

  • man braucht keinen Führerschein
  • aber: man muss oft umsteigen und kann den Anschluss verpassen

And then you couldn’t drive any further?
